Closed Class Request

Please note the following conditions regarding a request to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication for admission into any Mass Communication course that is already full. 

• Faculty members in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication do not make decisions regarding closed classes. All requests are reviewed by the Associate Director.
• Accrediting standards limit the maximum enrollment in certain courses regardless of the classroom capacity or instructional format.
• Override requests due to employment scheduling conflicts are generally not approved.
• If there are seats left in other sections, please secure a seat in one of the open sections.
• Please check the schedule of classes often as other students may be dropping courses and a seat may become available.
• To submit a closed class request, complete the steps below.
  1. Send the request from your Texas State email account to hb05@txstate.edu .
  2. Include your TXST student id number.
  3. Include the course prefix and section number (e.g., MC 1301.001).
  4. Provide a rational for your request.
