PRSSA at Texas State Presents Autumn Gala for SJMC Students

The Texas State Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has organized an evening to celebrate faculty and students’ passion for communication.The Mass Communication Autumn Gala will take place in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom on Nov. 20 from 8 p.m. to midnight. This first-ever event is meant to foster networks between the mass communication fields and increase interdisciplinary collaborations on projects and strong professional relationships. The Gala features dancing, a delicious dessert bar, a guest speaker, multi-organizational networking opportunities and a photo booth.The Gala is open to faculty and students of all mass communication fields and classifications (pre-majors, as well). Cost of entrance will be $7 per person. Guests may bring a date, but must purchase them a ticket; attendees can purchase a maximum of two tickets.Dress code is ‘Formal Attire’ – For ladies, this means a cocktail or evening dress. For gentlemen, a dark suit and tie, sports coat or dinner jacket. Don’t be afraid to get creative! Please no jeans, khaki, tennis shoes or baseball caps.Mass Comm. Leader of the Year Award to be presented at Gala The Mass Communication Leader of the Year Award was created to recognize outstanding students across mass communication disciplines. The award will be given to one male and one female student at the gala who demonstrate academic merit, organizational involvement and relevant experience and serve as a leader in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and Texas State University communities.“We have some exceptional students in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and we really want to recognize them for all of their hard work,” said Justin Joe, PRSSA chapter president.Applicants can submit a résumé and one-page essay on why they believe they deserve the award to Randi Berkovsky, PRSSA Director of Membership, via email at: r_b2@txstate.edu.
