By Alexandra White, Mass Communication Graduate Student. On June 22, the SJMC Study in America group held a final showcase in Old Main to show their friends and families the mini documentaries and stories they created while on their Study in America trip. Study in America has become an extremely popular class to take for students studying at Texas State. Specifically, the School of Journalism and Mass Communication offers a Study in America trip that focuses on storytelling and feature writing. Led by faculty members Kym Fox and Dale Blasingame, a select group of students venture out to national parks across New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Utah. Some of the parks they visited included the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, the Great Sand Dunes, Palo Duro Canyon, and more stops in between. Their trip was from May 30 to June 12, and they traveled 4,000 miles through these parks. While on their trip, they interviewed park employees, visitors, and anyone with an interesting story to tell. To learn more about this year's adventures, check out SJMC Parks' hashtag: #SJMCParks
