The two newest interns for the San Antonio Spurs this season are continuing in the path of Texas State students who have interned with the organization for more than a quarter-century, when Mike Kickirillo ('88) was hired as the Spurs' broadcast producer. Kickirillo is now the longtime Director of Broadcasting for the NBA franchise and has hired two Bobcat students as paid interns for the 2019-2020 school year.Adam Keehn, a senior from The Woodlands, and Kory Guidry, a junior from Nederland, are enjoying working long hours for Spurs home games at the AT&T Center.  The two students have been enrolled in Senior Lecturer Larry Carlson's MC 4357 Sports Media class this fall. While Kory is writing content for one division of the crew, Adam is working in broadcast production. He has also already been utilized twice for on-camera segments. A former high school hoops player, Adam is "starring" part-time as the "basketball demonstration guy" for pre-game TV host (and former Spurs player) Matt Bonner.  https://twitter.com/foxsportssw/status/1202035246675480576 As you can see in the video, it's Adam's job to serve as a model for what an NBA defender should or shouldn't do in a given game situation. On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Adam had to show what can happen to a player stuck defending Houston star James Harden. That night, Harden rang up 50 points, as perhaps foreshadowed by the demonstration, but Adam and his employers got the last laugh as San Antonio made a big fourth quarter comeback, then beat the favored Rockets in double overtime. The Spurs broadcast crew, by the way, can boast of six Texas State alums on the payroll.  Three of those Bobcats graduated in just the past three years.
