SXSW grad coverage gets “Best of the Web” award

In 2009, the multimedia website sxtxstate.com, set up by Mass Communication graduate students in the New Media concentration to cover the annual international South By Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin, won 2nd place in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s Best of the Web Awards for Journalism. Dr. Cindy Royal’s students in the Advanced Online Media also won awards in 2008 in the same competition for Web design projects executed in her classes, including 1st place for San Marcos Online (an entertainment guide to the city) and 3rd place for Thread Austin (an overview of the Austin sewing and craft community).
