Texas State PRSSA Receives "Pacesetter" Chapter Recognition

The Texas State University Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) Robert Glaves Chapter has earned the Pacesetter Chapter Recognition by the PRSSA’s National Committee. The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National Committee evaluates the performance of PRSSA Chapters and awards this recognition to chapters that set the pace nationally, given their level of involvement, leadership and impact. The Pacesetter recognizes a Chapter’s success in the areas of membership, national participation and Chapter development.Texas State University’s PRSSA chapter was acknowledged for increasing chapter membership by 30 percent through on-campus engagement this semester alone, and for participating in three national initiatives in the month of February by conducting a high school outreach, implementing a diversity initiative in chapter programming, and hosting a regional conference.“Our Chapter has been working hard all year to grow in membership and involvement,” said Alana Zamora, 2017-2018 president of the Texas State chapter. “From hosting Regional Conference this year to preparing to host National Conference in the fall, our Chapter has been given amazing opportunities to thrive and I’m very grateful that our Chapter has received this recognition. ”Faculty adviser Paul Villagran, lecturer in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, said this recognition is a deserved honor for a Chapter that is active and works hard to provide value to their Chapter’s membership. “Receiving this award is just a testament to the amazing work the Chapter has done this year and I’m confident the Chapter will continue to do great things in the years to come.” Villagran said.Receiving the Pacesetter is the most recent achievement for the Chapter, during what has been a busy and successful school year. About the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA)The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications.
