We are proud to announce that the Texas State University chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) has achieved remarkable recognition with two prestigious awards.
The TXST PRSSA chapter has been awarded the 2024 Star Chapter Award, an honor that recognizes chapters excelling in providing exceptional programming and fostering meaningful relationships among members. The Star Chapter Award encourages chapter leadership to create valuable opportunities for students and is becoming the gold standard for PRSSA chapters striving for excellence nationwide.
Additionally, Serenity Mixon, immediate past president of TXST PRSSA, has been honored with the 2024 PRSSA National Gold Key Award. This prestigious accolade recognizes individuals for their stellar academic achievements in public relations and outstanding leadership within their PRSSA chapter.
2024-2025 chapter president, Emma Vega, shares her thoughts on these achievements:
“The Star Chapter Award is awarded to chapters nationwide that achieve excellence by providing members with numerous career and educational growth opportunities. We are extremely honored to be one of 39 chapters to receive this award and know that it would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our executive board, chapter advisor Paul Villagran, our guest speakers, and the members who continue to show up to our events and meetings. This past January, I attended the PRSSA national leadership assembly in Seattle alongside former chapter president Serenity Mixon, where I learned we were among the only chapters nationwide to present an opportunity like our annual spring trip to members, which allows students to visit professional environments and network with individuals in-state and out-of-state. We are extremely proud to be able to offer such opportunities to our members and know that its success is one of the reasons that allowed us to earn the Star Chapter achievement.”
