Guest Speaker Parking
Guest speakers who are driving to Texas State for Mass Comm Week will park in the Pleasant Street Parking Garage.
*note: small number of guest are be assigned to LBJ Parking Garage more details below*
The School of Journalism and Mass Communication will cover the cost of guest speaker parking. However, each guest must register their vehicle for a parking permit before arriving on campus.
Driving guests will receive an email with:
- A parking permit registration link
- A department parking voucher code
- Step-by-step registration instructions
- A parking permit tutorial video
- A link with directions to the correct garage entrance
Please complete your parking registration before coming to campus.
Getting to Pleasant Street Parking Garage
Please use this location to for direction to arrive at Pleasant Street Parking Garage.
We do not recommend searching for Pleasant Street Parking Garage directly in Google Maps. Google Maps may direct drivers to the State Street entrance, which has a gate that guest speakers may not be able to enter.
The location provided in your email will direct you to the appropriate parking booth near LBJ Drive and Sessom Drive.
When you reach the booth, tell the parking attendant that you are a Mass Comm Week guest. The attendant will allow you through the gate.
Continue straight forward up the ramp into Pleasant Street Parking Garage and drive to the third level.
Reserved Mass Comm Week Parking
Mass Comm Week will have five reserved guest parking spaces on Level 3 of Pleasant Street Parking Garage.
The spaces will be marked with cones.
Your faculty host will coordinate your arrival time with you and meet you at the reserved parking area. Your host will assist with the reserved space and then guide you to Old Main.
We recommend arriving at the garage at least 30 minutes before your scheduled session.
Guests Parking in LBJ Parking Garage
A small number of Mass Comm Week guest speakers will be assigned to LBJ Parking Garage when it is more convenient for their session location.
If you are assigned to LBJ Parking Garage, your faculty host will let you know before your visit and will coordinate where and when to meet you.
When entering the garage, keep the parking ticket you receive. You will need it for parking validation.
Your faculty host will meet you and provide a parking validation sticker. Place the validation sticker on your parking ticket and keep the ticket with you.
After your session, use your validated parking ticket when exiting the garage.
If you have not been specifically told to park in LBJ Parking Garage, please follow the Pleasant Street Parking Garage instructions provided in your guest email.

Directions from IH-35:
- Take exit 206-Aquarena Springs Drive/Loop 82.
- If exiting IH-35 from the south / San Antonio, turn left onto Aquarena Springs Drive.
- If exiting IH-35 from the north / Austin, turn right onto Aquarena Springs Drive.
- Continue straight to stay on Aquarena Springs Dr.
- Turn right onto E Sessom Dr.
- Turn left onto N Comanche St.
- Turn left onto Student Center Dr.
- Turn right onto Gaillardia St.
- The garage will be on the left.
Not Driving?
If you are arriving by another form of transportation, you do not need to complete the parking registration.
Please communicate with your faculty host about your arrival time and meeting location. Your host or a Mass Comm Week student worker will help guide you to the Green Room and your session.
