What does it take to transform a compelling idea into a finished documentary that reaches an audience? Emmy and Peabody Award-winning producer Elizabeth “Betty” Buckley takes students behind the scenes of documentary production, drawing on more than 25 years of experience creating content for PBS, HBO, HISTORY, National Geographic, CuriosityStream, and other major media outlets.
From identifying the story and shaping its narrative to producing, directing, collaborating with creative teams, and navigating distribution, Buckley will explore the decisions that move a documentary from concept to screen. She’ll also share lessons from her recent films The Stars at Night and What’s the Story Wishbone? and offer practical insights for students interested in turning their own stories into compelling visual media.
