Isabel Maldonado
"Bateman has been an opportunity to gain confidence in my public relations skills after letting go of art and changing my major. For the past year and a half, I have felt behind, like I was consistently playing catch-up. A part of me still feels this way if I am being honest, but bateman gave me something to be proud of. A tangible experience I can speak with potential employers with as I prepare to graduate this May. I feel that without this experience, I would feel nothing but dread as my graduation comes closer, but now I only feel a slight sense of dread as the feeling of pride overtakes it due to this project."

“The top thing that I’ve learned from Bateman is advocacy and resilience! To never give up, even though it may sound cliche no matter the roadblocks thrown in the way it’s all part of life and the experience, I’m very grateful to have gone for it! It has all been so worth and I thank God that he directed me in the path of not cutting myself short of what I'm capable of!”

"I think communication and planning were my top two most developed skills. I gained a real understanding of how to run a campaign for an actual client, from planning events to gathering donations and coordinating with speakers. I also learned how to work with a team where everyone had completely different communication styles, which pushed me to be more clear, adaptable, and more intentional in how I approached conversations. This carried directly into my internship, which I started halfway through the campaign. I was able to step into a professional environment and feel much more prepared, especially when it came to communicating with a team, managing deadlines, and handling multiple projects at once. Writing emails, contributing ideas, and staying organized felt a lot more natural because I had already been doing it in Bateman. It gave me a level of confidence and professionalism that I don’t think I would’ve had otherwise."
