MCWeek 2024 Guest Speaker Intake Form for Faculty

Overview

Faculty, thank you for playing a crucial role in making Mass Comm Week 2024 a success! We are requesting all faculty members to invite either a media professional relevant to their program and/or an SJMC alum to come speak during their assigned class time. If you are in need of a guest speaker, please reach out to sjmccomm@txstate.edu and we will assist you with finding a speaker for your class.

As faculty members hosting guest speakers, your preparation and engagement are key to ensuring a rewarding experience for both students and speakers. Please follow the steps below to make your session as impactful as possible:

Complete the Faculty's Speaker Information Form

Fill Out the Form: Begin by completing our Faculty's Speaker Information Form (below). This form will ask for your speakers' details/requests, logistical support, technical setup, and the room where the session will occur.
Our Process: Once the form is submitted, our team will contact your speaker with all the necessary information and provide a resource page with logistical information such as parking, directions to Old Main, etc. You’ll be CC’d on the email, so you’re kept in the loop and can follow up as needed. You will also receive the Communication Toolkit, Event Promotion guidelines/instructions, and Post-Event instructions.
Review your session objectives: Review suggested goals or key points to cover during the guest lecture. These objectives can help guide the session and ensure it aligns with your course content and the week's overall theme. This is also the time to discuss how the speakers will connect with TXST’s 125th anniversary theme, “Legacy of Tomorrow.”
