Accreditation and Accountability

Retention data for the ACEJMC accredited programs is based on first-time, full-time, bachelor degree seeking freshmen who have declared Journalism and Mass Communication as their major. Graduation data is based on the annual cohorts listed that graduated with a degree in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

There was a window when the definition of the first-time undergraduate cohort had to be refined by the university. The university tries to use the federal government definition of the cohort that includes first-timers in the fall and those that begin the summer prior.  In the period prior to the data refinement some cohorts did not include those that began in the summer prior. Therefore, some slight adjustments to the initial data are reflected in the current data.
 
Graduation rates reported on this page may vary slightly from those initially reported. Some degrees are not initially issued because of holds or incompletes. After the holds are cleared or incompletes finalized the registrar’s office will award the degree based on the program completion date.  When data changes in the database reports are updated to include new records.
