Logistics
-
How long should each session be?
Each session should last the assigned class period. That means most sessions will last 1 hour and 20 minutes, but some might be 50 minutes.
-
What is the expected format for session (e.g., presentation, Q&A, discussion)?
The format of the session is up to faculty and the speaker(s). Some sessions are fully Q&A style, while others are more like presentations.
However, interactive and discussion heavy sessions have proven to be most appreciated by students.
We recommend asking students to prepare some questions for the speaker to keep the session conversational.
-
Is there a standard for introducing guest speakers?
There is no standard to follow. Usually the faculty/moderator will introduce the speaker and give a quick background on them, but sometimes the speaker prefers to do that them selves.
-
Will there be a moderator, or do I need to select one?
You are not required to have a moderator, but you are welcome to!
