The Texas State University Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter was recently selected by the PRSSA National Headquarters as a Star Chapter. This is the fourth consecutive year the Texas State PRSSA chapter has been selected for this prestigious recognition, which is considered the gold standard of awards for chapters trying to achieve organizational excellence.

To be considered for the award, chapters must meet various benchmark standards related to outreach, ethics, national engagement, and networking opportunities for chapter members. More details about what goes into the Star Chapter criteria can be found on the PRSA website (PRSA – PRSSA Chapter Awards)

In addition to the chapter recognition, PRSSA also recognized individual students for demonstrating outstanding leadership in PRSSA and superior academic performance. A Texas State University student was among the students selected in 2025. Emma Vega was one of 44 students from the more than 11,000 PRSSA members recognized as a PRSSA National Gold Key recipient. The National Gold Key Award, created in 1983, is the highest individual honor bestowed upon PRSSA members. More information on individual leadership honors can be found at PRSA – PRSSA Leadership Recognition. This is the fourth consecutive year that a Texas State University student has been selected as a Gold Key award winner. Vega, last academic year’s Texas State PRSSA chapter president, graduated in May and is now attending Brown University, where she is working on a Master’s degree in Public Affairs.
