It is designed for students who want to understand media industries, audiences, strategy, and the role media plays in public life. Students explore how messages move through media systems, how organizations communicate with audiences, and how public relations, advertising, visual communication, and digital platforms shape the way people receive information.

Minor Requirements for SJMC Majors.
Students majoring within the School of Journalism and Mass Communication may select a minor within the School of Journalism and Mass Communication with the following exceptions, journalism majors cannot be journalism minors and mass communication majors cannot be mass communication minors. Students majoring and minoring within the School of Journalism and Mass Communication may apply no more than nine hours of the same MC prefix coursework to both the major and minor.
